Leap Year

In 1908 and 1912, at the height of the Golden Age of Postcards, “Leap Year” postcards were all the rage. Throughout Leap Year, women were encouraged to approach a man and even propose to him. Most Leap Year cards ridiculed women, showing them chasing after men, offering bags of money, or trying to entrap them. For their part, men sometimes wore disguises to evade a woman’s advances.
